Known issues
These are FreeCAD 1.1.4 behaviours, observed in the UI and reproduced where noted. NX-Style cannot change them; each has a workaround.
FreeCAD limits
- Until Next into a hole (Tutorial L)
-
A subtracting extrude with End = To first (FreeCAD’s Until Next) stops 1 mm into the part instead of at the hole’s wall. Up to face with the hole’s own face does the same (both measured headless too). Workaround: give the depth as a value; in Tutorial L 25 mm, to the hole’s axis.
- A suppressed child of a suppressed parent (Tutorial M)
-
After a parent feature is suppressed, a sketch on its face cannot find the face ("subshape not found"). Suppressing that child as well still leaves the part out of date. Workaround: unsuppress the parent, or sketch the child on a datum plane so it does not depend on the parent (Tutorial M).
- Offset constraints on a closed loop (Tutorial I)
-
With Add offset constraint on, Offset Curve gives a closed loop one redundant constraint; the sketch does not solve and the extrude fails. Workaround: Sketch › Select Redundant Constraints, then Delete.
- Shell after Edge Blend (Tutorial F)
-
With edges rounded first, Shell fails ("Failed to make thick solid"); the same faces and thickness work when the shell comes first. Workaround: undo, shell, then round.
- Edge Blend on thin walls (Tutorial F)
-
Rounding a handle’s outer edges at 3.81 mm on 3.175 mm walls fails ("BRep_API: command not done"); 2.54 mm works.
- Parallel from a perpendicular start (Tutorial G)
-
A Parallel joint between faces that start exactly perpendicular is accepted, the solver reports success, but the part does not turn: the solver removes part of the constraint as redundant. Reproduced in plain FreeCAD 1.1.4 with two boxes. Workaround: delete the joint, turn the part a little, apply Parallel again.
- Body origin and view fit
-
In plain FreeCAD 1.1.4, a Body whose origin planes stay visible disappears from the 3D view after a view fit. NX-Style therefore keeps the origin hidden; FreeCAD shows it while you pick a sketch plane.
Fixed in NX-Style
- Switching application kept the wrong part
-
File › New followed by Application › Modeling sent the next feature into the part opened before. Switching application now keeps the active window.
- Suppress ran Freeze
-
On FreeCAD 1.1.4 the ribbon’s Suppress ran FreeCAD’s Freeze; it is now NX-Style’s own Suppress (the feature’s Suppressed property).
- Empty tab strip over the Top Border Bar
-
Qt could leave an empty tab strip painted over Menu and the Type Filter after a panel moved; NX-Style hides such strips and the self-test checks for them.
- MB2 rotate turning into zoom
-
A stale modifier state after Ctrl shortcuts could turn MB2 rotate into zoom; MB2 now reads Shift and Ctrl from the mouse event.
